Ayrton got into cars and racing at the young age of two years old. He was bought an electric car to use in the back garden of his home and that was when the passion sparked. He couldn’t get enough of that electric car. It would be driven every day until batteries run flat. That was Ayrton’s first taste of being a racing driver.

At the age of four him and his family moved to Spain to live in Madrid. This turned out to be a real blessing if you wanted to become a racing driver because the local circuit had free testing for members five days a week! Ayrton raced his first cadet kart at the age of just five. The circuit he raced on had seen the likes of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz. By the age of eight, he was the champion of Madrid and his talent was easily noticed. A few years later at eleven years old, he qualified for the Rotax World Finals by winning the Spanish and Portuguese championship.
